All student staff members of the hiring team are responsible to self-monitor and maintain the required maximum of no more than 20 hours/week during the hiring process. The additional responsibilities for hiring will need to be balanced with each team member’s on-going tasks. Student staff will need to communicate with the Director and co-workers to ensure all scheduled shifts and projects are covered. It is necessary for most of the hiring staff to be trusted members of the current staff/leadership team.
Unpaid internships are available to members of the hiring team who wish to receive credits and develop a project correlating to the hiring process. Interns do not have a limit on the amount of hours they can work each week, up to the time they have completed their credit hours. Because of these constraints, it is recommended that three 40hr/week interns be added to the hiring team.
Consistency is crucial throughout the hiring process. Due to the limited hours the hiring team can work it is most efficient to divide the tasks among the team. Each team member will be responsible to ensure a specific task is completed in a timely manner with the appropriate follow through.
After an application has been downloaded, it needs to be printed, attached to any of the applicant’s already submitted materials, and filed under their last name.
The KidSpirit email account will be flooded with inquiry emails and questions from applicants throughout the process. All emails should be promptly answered and moved to a hiring folder. While any member of the hiring team may answer an email, at least one person should be responsible to check the email account daily.
One spreadsheet should be used to track all hiring information throughout the process. After confirming positions this information can be condensed into a spreadsheet for hired staff.
