Every staff will receive ONE Lesson Plan Blueprint Manual in their time at KS. This manual includes a lesson plan blueprint for every class/ level, standardized warmups, and rotation schedule.
After each class that the staff teaches, they will need to hop on a computer and fill out the Ideal-Logic lesson plan in order to complete their progress reports.
Lesson plans are done on Ideal-Logic. To complete them:
Click on the session (class) that you are writing the progress report for.
Click on the "progress reports" tab on the left.
Using the arrows on the top, arrow to the correct week.
Open the lesson plan by clicking the blue/purple button. Click on each skill/drill that was taught that week to add the skill to the lesson plan. These skills will then show up on the progress report in "spreadsheet edit"
To edit the skills, drills, or executions that the coaches will see on each lesson plan:
Go to admin on Ideal-Logic, then click on Gymnastics Ages 2-18,
Click on Sessions on the left, and then on progress reports along the top.
The progress reports can then be edited for each level.
The drills can be edited by clicking on each skill, and the executions can be edited at the bottom of the progress report.
Staff will update progress reports after each class for both summer and recreational gymnastics. These progress reports are to be completed on the clock immediately after the class, unless other arrangements have been made with the supervisor. (Currently completed on paper packets, otherwise see below)
To complete progress reports:
Staff will log onto their IL, open the dashboard for their class, and then click on progress reports on the left hand side.
Go into the lesson plan, and edit it to reflect exactly what skills were worked on in class that day.
Go back to the progress report tab, and click on the empty box next to the child's name to mark who was present in class that day.
Open the spreadsheet edit, in the right hand corner, for this day.
Enter a score from 1-5 for each skill that was worked on that day. When completed, be sure to hit “Done Editing” to save your work!
Number scale of 1-5
The skill was taught, but gymnast didn’t try it
Has just begun learning this skill
Need a spot or verbal cues
Can do it by themselves but need more practice
Has mastered the skill consistently with proper technique
6. Go to the attendance tab on the left hand side > edit next to that days attendance > enter coaches initials
Supervisors will track progress reports to ensure completeness and that they are done in the Langton office directly after the coach finishes coaching.
At the end of the term, overall progress reports will be generated from the weekly progress reports. To complete these, staff should:
Log into ideal logic and click on the class.
Click on the progress report tab on the left hand side. After you are on that screen, arrow down to the overall progress report in the drop down in the top left corner.
Ensure the settings are correct. Click on options, and it should have releasable, individual release, section comments, next level, and no plan should all be turned on.
This will need to be done for EACH class for the overall progress reports.
Click on the spreadsheet edit, and enter in the scores from the previous weeks.
This can be done by using the copy feature to copy from the last week, and then entering scores for all of the other skills based on the progress reports from previous weeks. Ideal-Logic can have two windows open at the same time so keep this in mind!
Staff should NOT use the 'round averages' feature because the average scores they received on their skills among the 8 week term is not an accurate presentation of the gymnast's growth throughout the term. Use the last 2-3 progress reports to enter in the skill scores.
Then, a comment needs to be entered for every child on the progress report. Comments should offer both constructive and positive feedback, and should be specific! Use growth mindset feedback. (There is an outline in sharepoint that staff may use)
After all scores and comments are entered, close the spreadsheet edit. On the progress report main screen, click on edit for each individual gymnast, and select the level they should be in next. To move to the next level, a gymnast should have pretty much all 4’s and 5s. Although all of the skills are important, here are some determining skills for each level:
KG to Level 1: Should either be six, very close to turning six, and be able to behave and follow directions in class. KG and level 1 are essentially the same level so age is the only distinction.
Level 1 to Level 2: Should be able to do at least 80-90% of the level 1 skills, important ones are a pullover, a cartwheel with legs kicking over their head, a ¾ handstand, and should not be afraid of the beam. They should also be able to do a lever on the beam, and should be able to listen and follow directions in class.
Level 2 to Level 3: Should be able to do at least 80-90% of the level 2 skills, important ones are a back hip circle, a bridge kickover, an excellent handstand, a roundoff, a handstand flatback, and a lever with a hop on the beam.
Print the progress reports on colored paper.
Progress reports will be handed out at the end of the lesson on the last day. Remaining progress reports should be recycled and then a PDF should be sent to the guardian via email.
At the end of the term, the supervisor will need to check that final progress reports for each class are all released. Coaches should release them at the end of the last day of class.
Then, an email should be sent to the parents thanking them for the term and explaining how they can view their progress reports.
Progress reports can be seen if parents log into their Ideal-Logic, and click on their registration for each of their gymnasts. They will have a progress report tab on the left hand side where the progress reports can be viewed and printed.
