Jesus Questioned About Fasting
18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”
19 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.
Mark 14:60-62
Son of the Blessed One
60Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 61But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
62"I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
Before one can believe in Jesus, you have to believe in what He said...You have to believe that He was telling the Truth...Because is the Truth...He spoke in a humble and mild fashion, yet He had such an authority about Him...And Jesus did said some amazing things...Among them was that He was here (or at least somewhere) before Abraham was born...How could He be a man, or just an ordinary man like any other man and been here on earth (or at least somewhere) a thousand years ago, at the time of Abraham...Then He ends the Abraham statement with I AM...I AM is the name for God, YAHWEH, our LORD...
Then one day this Ordinary Man makes a remark about fasting...Fasting, a Hebrew tradition since the fall of Adam, when he and his wife Eve, had to leave the Garden of Eden for sinning against God...The fasting was a tradition to try to get closer to God, to forget our personal pleasures and desires for food and desires of the flesh...Yet this Man, tells the Pharisees and His disciples, that they can put on hold this long standing thousand of years old tradition of fasting to and for God, while He is on earth...But when I leave, it would be the time to take up the ritual of fasting again...Who says such things?...Who can suspend the old religious rules (and other rules) while they are on earth?...
Then later after His arrest He is ask by the High Priest, if He is the Messiah, the Christ that was to come...He answers again I AM, which means God and furthers His comments with "and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."...The part of the statement that He will return on the clouds of heaven, is a reference to His second coming, the Second Advent...He shall return, even after His death...He shall return, even after His resurrection to earth...Who can say such things?...The answer is God can...Who was this Man?...The answer is God...
