Genesis 1:3-5 (KJV)
Let There Be Light
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
John 1:1-18
The Word Becomes Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Psalm 119:105
Thy Word is a Lamp unto my Feet, and a Light unto My Path.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
John 8:12-20
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”
14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”
“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.
2 Corinthians 4:6
Let the Light Shine out of Darkness
6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Revelation 22:5 (KJV)
There Will Be No More Darkness
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Light was created on the first day, in the beginning...What would the world do if there never was a Light created?...Would the world we know survived without a Light or the Light that God created on day three?...We would be walking around in the dark for all times, if we somehow survived...Light is necessary and Light is the Glory of God displayed in Jesus...
Moses wrote that God said let there be Light, and there was Light...And God saw the Light and saw that it was good...And then God divided the Light from the darkness...So since the very first day of the world the Light rises each and everyday and comes into our lives...When God spoke Light into the world, He gave us comfort, life, and a feeling of goodness in Light...Light is needed for growth and life, and movement throughout our lives...St. John writes that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...Jesus was with God in the beginning...Through Jesus all things are made; without Him nothing was made that has been made...In Jesus is life, and that life is the Light of all mankind...The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has still never overcome the Light...There was a man sent from God to introduce the Light into the world...His name was John, John the Baptist...He came as a witness to testify concerning that Light, so that through Him all might believe...He himself was not the Light; but John the Baptist came only as a witness to the Light....There is Only One True Light that gives Light to everyone and He came into our world and dwelt among us...And the Psalmist wrote that thy word is a Light unto my feet, and a Lamp unto my path of life...And we need a Light to walk , because when we are completely in the dark we cannot see to walk, or do anything...
Without Jesus this world and life has no purpose, no meaning, and no Light...For without this Light we cannot see...Without Light we are blind to things...So I believe in Jesus because then life has meaning, life has a purpose, and life has a Light for me to follow...
Let Jesus be called the Light of Eternity, who has been with God from the beginning...The Light is a Great Help to us as we live our personal lives...We cannot live our lives in the dark...We should not be surprised by Jesus calling Himself the Light of Life...We need this Light to live life, and to live life abundantly...
Non-believers of Jesus live in darkness...Those who follow Jesus live in the Light, and have an abundant life...Believers see that God's Son is the Light of our soul, the brightness of God shining into our lives...So whoever follows Jesus will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light as they journey through life...
Minister and author and interpreter of the Bible, Matthew Henry writes, "Christ is the Light of the world...God is Light, and Christ is the image of the invisible God...One sun enlightens the whole world; so does One Christ, and there needs no more...What a dark dungeon would the world be without the sun!...So would it be without Jesus, by whom Light came into the world...Those who follow Christ shall not walk in darkness...They shall not be left without the truths which are necessary to keep them from destroying error, and the directions in the way of duty, necessary to keep them from condemning sin."...
And then St. John writes in the Book of Revelation that there will be no more nights, nor will they need light from any lamp, , candle, bulb or even the sun, for our LORD God shall forever be the Provider of the Light...His Son's Light is The Light...
