John 1:1-14
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 8:12
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 14:15-31
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave.
John 17:3
Believing in God and His Son is Believing in Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-11
God Has Set Eternity in the Heart of Man
9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
I believe in eternal life...So I believe there is an eternity...For me there seems to be this Light in the sky...A Light for all mankind, that God sent...A Man who years ago made His dwelling among us, so that we might have hope and be assured that God is near us and is living...And some got to visit with this Man and they noticed that He is full of grace and truth...And there is Something that gently pulls us toward this One, this Spirit, this Uniqueness...Something and somehow, we are aware of One who is pure, sacred, and holy...There is this belief that there is this Something or Someone who sees and knows all...Someone who knows my deepest fears, and my most perverse thoughts...Someone who is completely surrounded by goodness and trustworthiness...One who is fully embodied by the Truth, grace, justice, holiness, and this pureness...A Perfection that is completely Authentic...And even though there is sin in this world and mankind sins, this One is not tainted by this negativity of our sin...He is not pulled into this darkness...And the darkness will not overcome Him...And whoever follows this Truth, this Light will never walk in darkness alone, but will have the Light of Life...
Where did these thoughts come from?...Where do they come from?...I believe these thoughts come from the Holy Spirit within us...It is the Something that guides us toward this Truth, this goodness, this pureness and towards a joy and happiness...It wants us to find this Truth and Grace...And if one believes in this One, He is the sinner's hope for eternal life...
