John 10:30
Jesus and His Father are One
30 I and the Father are one.
John 14:15-20
Jesus and the Father are One
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Genesis 1:26-27
God Created Man
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
John 1:1-5
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
Moses writes that we are made in the image, and in the likeness of God...St. John tells us that Jesus is the Word and has been with God from the very beginning...When Jesus came to earth, He was like a mirror for His Father...He reflects His Father and also His Father's will...So if we as men are made in His image and His likeness, and I can easily believe that His Son would be much, much more than me like God -when it comes to the Image of God and whose image is a closer likeness of God...But in that same respect that Jesus was a Man and I am a man, we are like Jesus and His Image, because we are all mad in the image of God...
I think then when you read these verses about Jesus saying that He and His Father are One, and He is in the Father -then you can better see the Duality of God and Jesus...Then as you read the verses about Him asking His Father to send us the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, the Spirit of Truth -and that we are in Him, and He is in us with the Holy Spirit -the Trinity (of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit in us) makes more sense...
Man was and is created in His image and likeness...God made us from the dust of the very earth He created...And if you believe in God, you can believe that God is Almighty in all these things...He can make man from dust...Then it is easier for me to believe that if God became a Man, then Jesus would have to reflect all the great things of His Father, and He could do miracles...He would say things like He said....Because He is, in fact, different than man and man's understanding...Jesus would have to do miracles, He would have to say the things He said -like I and the Father are One, and I AM in the Father...For if He is God's son and truly reflecting those characteristics of His Father, He would be powerful and Divine...When one really thinks about it, if Jesus is really God's Son, how can you not believe that He could not do the things He did...He would have to be more than man, which is in God's image and in God's likeness...Jesus would truly have to be this Great Reflection of God, His Father...
