John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Truth, the Way, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 8:31-32
The Truth Shall Set us Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 18:33-38
Jesus and Pilate Exchange Questions About Truth
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate.
Deuteronomy 4:29
Seek God with Your Heart and Soul
29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
The Spiritual Center of the body seems to be the heart...The Bible and Jesus talk about the heart and the soul often and the two seem to be linked and connected...
Sigmund Freud did not believe in the soul or heart being our Spiritual Center...He believed that religion was a man-made truth...He believed that man desperately wanted religion because we have this fear of death...Freud believed man has made up our God, based on a infantile wish -maybe to have a Protector or to be always protected...Freud believed man thought it would be nice if there was Someone who directed and organized a moral universe and provided for us an after-life...Freud said in his book the Future of Illusion that “Religion is a system of wishful illusions together with a disavowal of reality, such as we find nowhere else but in a state of blissful hallucinatory confusion...Religion's eleventh commandment is "Thou shalt not question.”...
I must disagree with Freud on his eleventh commandment theory, "the thou shalt not question"...Freud had seen many anxiety disorders of the mind and many other disorders of the mind...Freud saw suffering of the mind and this may have had an impact on his belief system...
In the Book of Job, Job suffers greatly...But for Job there are very many questions...The questions not only come from Job, but his friends ask many questions as well, throughout the Book of Job...Just go through the chapters and look at all the questions that Job and his friends ask, and many of their questions are directed directly to God, Himself...And about the use of questions and "thou shalt not question", when God in chapter thirty eight of the Book of Job comes down and meets Job, almost all of His dialogue to Job and Job's friends is in the form of questions...
I believe it is unfair to say that God and His Son do not like questions or to be questioned...If one Google's "questions that Jesus ask", we find He ask many questions...So, Jesus asks many questions throughout the four gospels...This to me, gives reason that we should ask questions or more questions...Jesus often answered other people's questions with His own questions (like God did to Job and his friends), causing the one asking to think (more), concentrate, and reflect...Many of His questions are thought provoking...Jesus wants us to question Truth and the truths around us...Pilate even asks Jesus, "What is Truth?"....A few of Jesus' own questions are, "Is that your own idea or did others talk to you about Me?", "Do you want to get well?", "What are you looking for?", "What good is it to gain the whole world but forfeit your soul?", and "Did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?"...These are only a sampling of questions He asked...
Many times unless, we ask questions how can we learn?...And what do we ask questions for?...We are seeking something...We are searching for Something...And our questions do not stop while we are infants or in our infantile years...Man and older men continue to question and search...We want information or more information...We want to understand something better...Many times we are searching and seeking for the truth of something, or want to know more about something...We are searching for something -sometimes that we do not know...We are searching for the unknown...And God wants us to learn about Him...So a questioning faith can become a stronger faith...Man seems to have this curiosity drive to ask questions to find out things, like the Truth...Believers believe this curious drive comes from our Father...And all our questions can lead us to Him and the Truth...Using only our minds sometimes cannot always get us to the Truth...We may need that something extra...Something of the heart, to get to that soulful state...When we are searching for the Truth we must use our heart and our soul, as well as our mind...The questions of Truth are answered by Jesus, because is Truth...
