John 4:23-24
Jesus on Truth
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 8:31-32
Jesus and Truth
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 16:13
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to All Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 18:37
Jesus Came to Earth to Testify to the Truth
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Jesus taught us many things and one of those things He taught us was to tell the truth...Jesus always spoke the Truth, and He testified to the Truth...All He ever did was to tell the Truth...One might say that Jesus is Absolute Truth...He once said that He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life...He teaches us that the Truth will set us free...Jesus would send to us the Holy Spirit, which guides us to Him and the Truth...So His life is tied to the Absolute Truth of all things...And everyone on the side of Truth listens to Him...
But speaking as He did, and speaking the Truth got Him in trouble...Jesus had to suffer on the cross for speaking the truth...As He went around forgiving people of their sins, we see that He could quickly identify sin and sinners, because He is just the opposite of sin...And in pointing out sin, for uprooting sin, and for forgiving others of their sins He would be hung from the cross to die...But when we think about this, is this so unusual?...The Archbishop Oscar A. Romero said this about speaking the Truth, “The church must suffer for speaking the truth, for pointing out sin, for uprooting sin...No one wants to have a sore spot touched, and therefore a society with so many sores twitches when someone has the courage to touch it and say: “You have to treat that...You have to get rid of that...Believe in Christ...Be converted.”...
Jesus touches many of our sore spots and we feel them...
