Genesis 1:3
Let There Be Light
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
John 8:12
Jesus is the Light of This World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus is the Same -Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Luke 11:33-36
33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”
John 10:30
Jesus and the Father are One
30 I and the Father are one.
John 14:6
Jesus Stood Up and Said I AM Truth
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 1:14
The Word Became Flesh
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Peter 2:22
Jesus Did Not Sin
22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
God knew that man needed Light in his life, so He said "Let there be Light."...God knows that Light is good for us, and Light separates itself from the darkness...
Jesus said "He is the Light of this World."...What does He mean that He is the Light of the World?...When I think of the word light, I also think of darkness and what He tells us about darkness...Whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness...We can and could not do very much if anything, if it were dark all the time...It is hard just to walk and find and do things in complete darkness...Just imagine that if we always had darkness and there was no sun, no stars, no moon, no fire, and no way to invent light -how difficult things would be...If we were be stuck in darkness twenty four hours a day each and every day -not much could get done...
Light does many things for us...Light helps increase our mood levels and make them more positive...There is such a thing as seasonal affected disorder (SAD), where some people need more light (than others) to help boost their mood...Light helps us stay focused better and can increase our concentration levels...Light is responsible for allowing us to see...If everything was always totally dark, we could not see anything...We can, therefore, see that light is good...
Light is actually a wave and a particle...Without trying to get complicated light (although sometimes things can and do get complicated) is said to be both wave and particle...This is called the wave-particle duality...Physicists often say this is a paradox...How odd, how can something be two things and yet still be seen as one?...And we used to think about the smallest of particles being atoms...But physicists had more and other questions...Now physicists tell us that there are even smaller things -like quarks and bosons...These smallest of things that we cannot see or touch are very real and are a part of a basic truth and truths in our world...One of the interesting things about this wave-particle and light is that the speed of light in a vacuum is defined to be exactly 299,792,458 m/s (or approximately 186,282 miles per second)...And this is a constant fact of nature...This never changes, it remains the same from the first day that God said let there be light to today...And it will be the same today, yesterday, and forever...
Jesus also said in Luke's gospel that no one sets a light out to be hidden, like under a bowl...What good is a light under a bowl?...What good is Light hidden?...Nothing ever could be seen...Nothing would ever be revealed...Because we do not have twenty four hours of darkness each and everyday, we can see who and what is around us...The Light allows us to see things...The Light reveals...Jesus reveals more things about God to us, than any man or teacher ever has...The Light revealed to us many of the great questions about His Father (and He brought up many questions, as well)...The Light taught many things and revealed those things in the four gospels...God sent His Son, the Light -to reveal things to us...God wants us to see and understand the things His Son teaches...And the more Light we have in our eyes, which is the Lamp of the Body, the more things we can see and relate to God...God wants us to see all the great things in life...For instance, as strange as this may sound, when I see a tree, I think of God...I wonder how the trees I see got here, and inevitably think that God gave us trees...When I see and do mathematics and its universal truths, I think of God and His Universal Truths...
God also wants us to see all the great mysteries in life...He very much wants us to learn about these things the Light taught us in the four gospels...For us to believe in Jesus, we need our eyes to see things differently...Even the Disciples and the others watching Him and following Him did not all see who He was...We need a different kind of sight...And even though He revealed only the Light, dark shadows remained in the vision of those who could not believe what He was teaching, and could not come to believe in His miracles either...They did not learn from Him, so they were not humbled by His Grace...They could not see the Light...Everyday we see many, many things and do not question how they got here...We also have things here like quarks and bosons we cannot see and are here...But the Light is quite different...But since He is God in the flesh and dwelt with us -should not we expect Him to be this Great and this Different?...Would He not be a Duality with His Father, and the Trinity when we add His Holy Spirit?...Since we sin, and He did not sin, would He not be somewhat of a paradox for us to watch and learn from?...Would He not be full of humility, mercy, forgiveness, grace, and truth?...
