John 8:54-56
Jesus Says He is I AM
54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”
John 14:6-14
Jesus and God are One
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus had a ministry style like no other...He exalted Himself at different times during His teachings...When He compares Himself to God that is a very, very High Honor...An Honor worth worshiping Him if it is true...And it is true...Jesus was a Man who made Himself out to be God and the listening Jews did not like that at all...Jesus did say that anyone who has seen Him has seen God...Jesus said that He and God are One...He said that God is living in Him, and that He is in God...
Yet, through all of what He said about Himself, He never sounded arrogant during His ministry...How can that be?...When Someone compares themselves often to God, how can we believe that?...But many do believe just that, while others do not...
When Jesus told the Jews, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM.'"...We see that He is calling Himself God, whose name is I AM....And for those that believe in Him, we accept that He is, I AM...Jesus is I AM...
