John 1:1-14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 8:12
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 16:13
The Holy Spirit Guides Us
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Luke 11:34-35
Your Eyes Are the Lamp of the Body
34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Genesis 3:6-7
The Sinful Fruit was Pleasing to the Eyes
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
When the Word came to earth are dwelt among us, He brought a special Light...It is a Light of hope...But not only hope, it is a Way of life...In Him is the Light and life of mankind...In this Light is Truth...The Light shines in the darkness, and the prince of darkness cannot overcome it...This Light leads us to His Father...And when we know the Light, we can reach and come to God...And by getting closer to God, He is the true Light that gives light to everyone, to all mankind...
And we see this Light through our eyes...Our eyes are the lamp of our bodies...Our eyes often guide us to what we do...But if our eyes are full of Light, they are guided by the Holy Spirit...And we are guided to the Truth...If our eyes follow the Light of the World, then our whole body will be full of the Light...Full of His Light, we are closer to His Father...But if our eyes are not full of this Light the eyes can be deceived...The eyes can become dimmed and dark and and tend to sin and lead to temptations...And our temptations can look pleasing and feel right at the time of the sin...Some of our sins are caused out of our own self pleasures...We can exchange the Truth of the Light for a lie of the evil one...
Long ago we fell from grace and sinned...The Bible and Jesus teaches us much about sin...St. Paul clearly writes about mankind's sinning ways, in his letter to the Romans...We sin and then evil, greed, and the darkness are around us...And are sinful desires can be a part of our lives...When sin plays a major role in our lives, we have no fidelity, no love, and no mercy...
Sin has darkened are eyes and therefore our bodies...We have got to see the Light, to feel the Light...Jesus' eyes were full of Light...I suspect He had the most absorbing of eyes and stares...I suspect, the Light from His eyes could both exhilarate or haunt those looking into Them...Following the Light can literally Light up one's life...Following the Light is the Way to life and the Truth...Following Him is the Way to God...
