Tharun's Goal - I will learn Android Studio and Java, then use this knowledge to create an app that can be linked to a backend condition program. This app will obtain the heart rate from wearables that society uses today and then run the data through the app to detect arrhythmia in patients through heart rate variability.
The IB MYP Process Journal is a useful place to record information while working on all stages of the Personal Project. The student creates the journal in a format that suits his/her needs (scrapbook, word doc, blog, composition notebook, binder, etc.).
This project connects to an existing heart rate monitor and obtains the RR interval from a person (RR interval being the time between each heart-beat in milliseconds). The application then calculates the standard deviation of the RR interval and shows it in the application. The global context of the project is scientific and technical innovation. I used Organisational, Research, Informational/Media Literacy Skills, and Reflective Skills. I needed to be an inquirer to gain a better knowledge of the subject and a researcher to find and obtain knowledge. I needed to be open-minded towards feedback as well as ideas. I also needed to be a communicator to explain what I was doing. Finally, I needed to be reflective of the product and how it can be improved.
