My personal project goal is to research and create a recipe cookbook of 5 fast foods which are transformed into healthy and low calorie alternative recipes by the end of December 2020.
The IB MYP Process Journal is a useful place to record information while working on all stages of the Personal Project. The student creates the journal in a format that suits his/her needs (scrap book, word doc., blog, composition notebook, binder, etc).
To create a cookbook with at least 5 recipes that is fast food but made with healthy low calorie alternatives by the end of December. The global context that is related to my goal is identities and relationship as my goal focuses on physical health of individuals which is a strand in identities and relationship. My goal is to make fast foods healthier which focuses on a person’s health and wellbeing. Decreasing calories and making the fast food healthier makes it healthier for individuals to consume which has a lower or healthier impact on their physical health.
Working on my goal helped me develop and improve my IB profile and ATL skills. The ATL skills I improved include communication skills as I had to interview a nutritionist, organization skills to organize and manage my workload and documents related to my project. I also improved my affective skills as I had to take feedback from my supervisor on work on the goal myself. Another skill I developed and improved in this process is information literacy skills and media literacy skills as I had to conduct a lot of research.
The IB learner profile skills I developed and improved during this process include inquirer, communicator and open minded. I improved my inquirer skills due to the research I had to conduct in order to achieve in making my product. I was open minded during the process as I had to try many new recipes which I never baked.
