The IB MYP Process Journal is a useful place to record information while working on all stages of the Personal Project. The student creates the journal in a format that suits his/her needs (scrap book, word doc., blog, composition notebook, binder, etc).
My personal project really opened my eyes to the struggle of cancer patients in our society. I was able to learn and empathize for their cause. The global context I chose was Identities and Relationships, this gave me a perspective to explore my topic. Due to this global context, I was able to look at the stigmatization as a humanitarian cause and not a problem. This is important because someone’s problems in life are not a trend, like most people approach it. The skills of critical thinking and empathy stood out most to me, because it helped me understand the importance of highlighting the struggles of cancer patients. The learner profile, risk taker was the main reason I could do this project in the first place. I never step out of my comfort zone and writing a book is something I would never do, because of my fear of criticism but this project helped me overcome that.
