To identify, investigate and analyse the challenges faced by underprivileged players who have a passion for football, and present suggested solutions to these problems to the President of the Football Association in Karnataka. This will create awareness in making the football clubs more inclusive as well as bridging societal gaps.
The IB MYP Process Journal is a useful place to record information while working on all stages of the Personal Project. The student creates the journal in a format that suits his/her needs (scrapbook, word doc, blog, composition notebook, binder, etc.).
My Personal Project is a project that I have spent numerous months on and is very close to my heart. I used this opportunity to deep-dive into a problem that has concerned me for a long time; inequality in football. I chose the global context of ‘Identity and Relationships’ as this was a project that was inherently about human relationships and them being influenced by their identities.
As I interviewed these players and coaches, I did not even need to try to connect it with the Global Context. It kept making itself evident. Whether it be the different personalities’ takes on the situation, or the relationship between coaches and players, Identities and Relationships were everywhere in this project.
In Process Journal 2, I reflected on which ATL skills I thought I would develop. I am happy to see that every one of them has been practiced extensively during the entirety of this project. Whether it be communication (which was obviously a requirement for my interviews), research (for my secondary sources), planning (detailed plans with identified milestones for tracking progress), or Social skills (through my various conversations with experts, coaches and players), each of these skills was developed far more than I ever expected it to.
As an IB learner, I have become a critical thinker (through the care and research needed to be put into this project), inquirer (as I had to ask the right questions not just during the interviews), reflective (as I needed to gain the right information from my conversations and note them down for my process journals).
