The IB MYP Process Journal is a useful place to record information while working on all stages of the Personal Project. The student creates the journal in a format that suits his/her needs (scrapbook, word doc, blog, composition notebook, binder, etc.).
My personal project was a piano performance of Western Classical music and a performance of a Hindustani Raag. I chose personal and cultural expression mainly because I set out to create my own interpretation. I can surely say that I’ve improved in this regard because I actually considered how to play sections rather than running through the motions. I became more of a risk-taker, as even though I have extensive experience in piano performance, I have never done a full concert before, so the project was a risk. I became more inquisitive as I decided to explore an entirely different musical culture which I had never really been familiar with (Hindustani music). I plan to do more explorations into Hindustani music. This project also definitely tested my communication skills a lot since I needed to talk with a lot of different people (supervisor, piano teacher, Lions Club members) to be able to make the entire thing happen. In short, the personal project has improved me as a whole.
