My personal project is a documentary film that is about religious racism specifically towards the Sikh and Muslim community and how teenagers of my generation can drive change for ourselves and the generation that follows.

The global context I used for my film is identities and relationships because it’s very fitting in terms of the project that I’m doing, the Sikh and Islam religion represent a person’s identity it is a part of who you are therefore I chose ‘identities and relationships”. For Sikhs and Muslims, their identity is a huge part of who they are, especially since in today’s world they receive so much hate for simply being followers of these religions they take a lot of pride in who they are and what they stand for, therefore their religion is a huge part of who they are and the kind of people they are. The relationship they have with one another is also something very sad because they both receive a lot of religious hatred and it unites them, typically people for bonds over things like sports, music etc. but they have a mutual understanding of each other’s hardships.

The two main IB learner profiles that were important in making my project successful would be communicator because I used multiple methods to reach out to people including messaging, video calls and used various platforms such as email, Instagram and WhatsApp often in combination for a single person to make sure my message reached people. The other profile is open minded because I had to take into consideration everyone’s thoughts and opinions regardless of whether I supported it or not.
