This skill represents your ability to bend others to your will through threats, and coerce them into performing actions that go against their best interest.
With veiled or overt threats, you attempt to bully a creature into doing what you want. Spend at least 1 minute in conversation with a target, and then make an Intimidation check against that target's Composure Defence, modified by any circumstances the GM determines.
Critical Success: The target agrees to follow your directives, provided they aren't directly harmful to the target. They comply for an amount of time determined by the GM (not exceeding 1 day), at which point they become Unfriendly. However, they are too scared to retaliate in the short term.Success: As Critical Success, but once the target becomes Unfriendly, they might actively retaliate (reporting you to the authorities or aiding your enemies).Failure: The target refuses to do what you say, and their attitude drops to Unfriendly (or Hostile).Critical Failure: The target refuses to comply, becomes Hostile, and cannot be Coerced by you for at least 1 week.With a sudden shout, a well-timed taunt, or a cutting putdown, you can shake an enemy's resolve. Choose a creature within Close Range that you are aware of, and spend 1 Action to make an Intimidation check against their Composure Defence. If the target does not understand the language you are speaking, you take a –4 circumstance penalty to the check. Regardless of your result, the target is temporarily immune to your attempts to demoralize it for the rest of the scene. Demoralize cannot be used on targets whose attitude towards you is lower than Helpful.
Critical Success: The target gains two applications of the Frightened condition.Success: The target gains one application of the Frightened condition.Critical Failure: The target becomes enraged or offended, gaining a +2 bonus to checks made against you for the next round.You fling vicious mockery at a target, rattling them or causing them to act against their best interests. Spend 1 Action to make an Intimidation check against the target's Composure DC. If the target does not speak the same language as you, you take a -4 circumstance penalty to the check. Demoralize cannot be used on targets whose attitude towards you is lower than Helpful. You can only successfully Taunt a specific target once per Scene.
Critical Success: The target is enraged, taking a -4 penalty on all checks for the next round. Their attitude decreases by one step, and they will usually direct their next hostile action toward you.Success: The taunt rattles the target, inflicting a -2 penalty on all checks for the next round.Failure: The taunt has no effect.Critical Failure: The target constructively channels their rage against you, gaining a +2 bonus on all checks against you for the next round.
