This particular skill represents your training with heavy weapons, such as mortars, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, or handheld miniguns. This skill only applies to weapons you are physically wielding, as a mounted weapon relies on the Firearms skill instead.
You may make either Direct Fire or Indirect Fire attacks with this skill.
You aim directly at a target and spend 1 action to fire your Heavy Weapon. Roll a Heavy Weapons check against their Armor Defense.
Critical Success: You land a Critical Hit.Success: You hit the target.Failure: You miss. If you are launching a grenade or another area-of-effect weapon, if you fail the check by 5 or less, the target is still caught in the outer edge of the blast.Critical Failure: You fire dramatically off-target. You suffer a Ranged Weapon Critical Fumble.By taking 3 actions, you fill an Close-ranged burst within your weapon's range with a dangerous hail of munitions, creating a zone of constant damage that lasts for 1 round. Due to the arcing nature of indirect fire, it can be fired over obstacles. Roll a single Heavy Weapons check. This result becomes the Attack Roll against the Dodge Defense of any creature that starts its turn in, or enters, the area.
Critical Success: Your attack roll is treated as a Critical Hit against anyone whose Dodge Defense it beats. All targets in the area gain the Suppressed condition.Success: You deal standard Direct Fire damage to anyone whose Dodge Defense you beat. All targets in the area gain the Suppressed condition.Failure: You fire slightly off-target. Targets take half damage.Critical Failure: You suffer a Ranged Weapon Critical Fumble. When using Indirect Fire with weapons with a Clip Size of 1, you consume 3 ammo as you rapidly reload and fire again over the course of a round. When using Indirect Fire with weapons with a larger Clip Size, you consume 4d10 ammo as you spray and pray over the course of the round. You must have at least 3 ammo for weapons with a Clip Size of 1, or 10 ammo for weapons with a larger clip size, or else your attempt to use Indirect Fire fails.
