Genesis 2:19-20
Adam Names the Animals
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
God brought all the wild animals and wild birds to Adam...He brought them to Adam to see what he would name them...Whatever Adam named them, would be the names of the animals and birds...Whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name...
No doubt while Adam was observing and deciding on a name for each animal and bird, he would have learned a great deal about each of the kinds of species, by seeing them up close and personal...Many of the animals would have hair like the oxen, cows goats, sheep, and horses...Birds would have feathers, and the hippopotamus and rhinoceros would have an unusual looking thick type skin...The serpent, alligator, and crocodile have a different type skin...The turtles and tortoises have a shell...Up close, I think, Adam would see patterns and similarities between birds, different animals and have acquired great knowledge about the animal kingdom during this period...
I think while Adam lived he would have been much the expert to look to for when one had a question about the animals and birds of the wild kingdom...
