John 16:25-33
In This World You Will Have Trouble
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 14:27
Jesus Gives Us a Peace, Not of this World
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 3:13-15
Jesus Came from Heaven
13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Genesis 1:27
We Are Made In His Image
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them
John 17:3
Eternal Life is to Know God and His Son
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Jesus teaches us the eternities...He also taught us that we would have troubles in this world...He tells us He came from God and that God LOVES us because we love His Son and have believed that He came from God and from above...Jesus came from the Father (and from heaven) and entered our world; then He had to leave this world to go back to His Father...
When we learn what Jesus taught, we learn that there is a God, and that He came from God and from heaven, He teaches us we should make LOVE a priority in our lives (we should love God and even love our enemies), be forgiving, and have mercy on others, keep hope, and remain in faith the things in life that are eternal...
He never taught that we would get wealthy, always stay young, always have great heath, be successful in what we do, and go through life problem free...If we believe that this is what He taught, we can be disappointed and discouraged in our faith...
He teaches us about eternal life...And we hear His explanation of eternal life is this: that we may know and believe that their in Only One True God, and believe also that He has a Son, and His name is Jesus Christ...And God sent His Son to earth to teach us about His Father and the eternal things in life...
And when we believe that God sent His Son to teach us about Him and about these eternal things, we will have a peace not like an earthly peace that we would normally think about, but more on the order of a mysterious eternal peace -that only He can give us...This mysterious peace is because He and His LOVE is committed to us eternally...Jesus has overcome this world and His own death, and if we can believe that -then we should not be troubled in our hearts...Then we will learn and know more about His type of peace...And at times it maybe hard to understand, but He makes us complete, because He created us in His own image...We have this indwelt desire (the Holy Spirit) to find this Something, to find Him and be with Him...
