Genesis 1:27
Man is Created in God's Image
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Romans 1:18-32
The Creation of the World is by God's Invisible Qualities
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
John 8:12
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Believers believe that God created us in His Image, which makes sense for believers to believe that we are guided in our lives by the Light of His Son...We can naturally assume that there is a Creator as we look around and see the things we see...But not only by things we see, but by the invisible and intangible things that we cannot see...St. Paul says it is plain to see as we look around that the creation of the world was done by God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen by creation of man and nature and the planets, and this being understood from what has been made and can be seen, give us great reasons to believe...St. Paul says this so emphatically that he added that people are without excuse, not to believe in Him...So God is better understood by looking around and studying those things He has made and created...
So I think one must ask himself, "Do you believe that creation, morals, and consciousness were formed over the last fifteen billion years, or do you believe that God created all these things?"...
We know that creation happened, and Something or Someone caused all things to be created...We know that there are certain things written on our hearts that we believe in...We know that there is this thing we call goodness or Goodness...And we know that we have a conscience, that can make us feel both good and bad...Cardinal James Gibbons wrote that God reveals Himself to us, as our Creator, Our Lawgiver, and our Judge...As our Creator, He manifests Himself by His works...As our Lawgiver, He speaks to us by what He has written on our hearts...And as our Judge, He speaks to us by the voice of our conscience...We apprehend Him, by our reason, our moral sense, and our conscience...
We can believe in God because of nature and the things we see around us and the vast expanse of the universe...We can believe in Him because there are these moral laws of right and wrong written on the hearts of all men by Him...And we can believe in God, because, as our Judge, we understand these things of right, wrong, and guilt, and goodness by the conscious He has given us...And when we follow Him, we do not walk in the darkness of those things which are not good and wicked and immoral, we walk in the very Light of Life as life is supposed to be...There is this Light of Life, a kind of life to be followed that is morally and consciously the right way to live...
