Genesis 1:3-5
God Spoke on the First Day
3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
I think often of how God created the heavens and earth, and have my own unscientific opinion about God creating our heavens and the earth...
I think we have had and do have some very smart men and women who have studied creation...But I do not think there has been anyone person who can understand how the universe was created...I believe that (the understanding of how the universe was created) is right now understood only by God...Job was a smart man, and God even questioned him, with many questions about His creation (Job 38 through 41)...Understanding how the universe was created and its foundation laid were quite beyond Job's (and his author's) understanding (and I might add far beyond this author's understanding, also)...
Some, if not many, believe that there was a Big Bang...Many give Edwin Hubble the credit for starting the Big Bang theory...The Big Bang means a loud noise - a very loud noise happened at the time of creation...This loud noise (and I mean again very, very, very loud noise happened), was caused by a dense and hot expanding of chemicals in the universe...The universe in its expanding state exploded and made this Big Bang...This noise was the noise of all noises...And the universe continues to expand today, fifteen billion years later...This is the best scientific theory we have today in explaining how the universe started...
But, I do not think that science and God as either or...The little I know about science makes and allows me to see God in it...The earth and heaven have the complexity, beauty, and are organized in such a way -that I can see God's work in it...There is much beauty, symmetry and patterns in our world...Nature seems to thrive on simplicity, yet it is extremely complex in a very organized way...
Wikipedia says this about the Scientific Method (in trying to explain scientific theories like the Big Bang Theory): The chief characteristic which distinguishes a scientific method of inquiry from other methods of acquiring knowledge is that scientists seek to let reality speak for itself, supporting a theory when a theory's predictions are confirmed and challenging a theory when its predictions prove false. Although procedures vary from one field of inquiry to another, identifiable features distinguish scientific inquiry from other methods of obtaining knowledge. Scientific researchers propose hypotheses as explanations of phenomena, and design experimental studies to test these hypotheses via predictions which can be derived from them. These steps must be repeatable, to guard against mistake or confusion in any particular experimenter. Theories that encompass wider domains of inquiry may bind many independently derived hypotheses together in a coherent, supportive structure. Theories, in turn, may help form new hypotheses or place groups of hypotheses into context...
Wikipedia says this about the Big Bang Theory: The Big Bang is a well-tested scientific theory which is widely accepted within the scientific community because it is the most accurate and comprehensive explanation for the full range of phenomena astronomers observe. Since its conception, abundant evidence has arisen to further validate the model.[6] Georges Lemaître first proposed what would become the Big Bang theory in what he called his "hypothesis of the primeval atom." Over time, scientists would build on his initial ideas to form the modern synthesis. The framework for the Big Bang model relies on Albert Einstein's general relativity and on simplifying assumptions such as homogeneity and isotropy of space. The governing equations had been formulated by Alexander Friedmann. In 1929 Edwin Hubble discovered that the distances to far away galaxies were generally proportional to their redshifts—an idea originally suggested by Lemaître in 1927. Hubble's observation was taken to indicate that all very distant galaxies and clusters have an apparent velocity directly away from our vantage point: the farther away, the higher the apparent velocity...
The scientific method says that their scientific steps can be repeated...And they also say the Big Bang Theory is a well tested scientific theory...As a believer in the Bible, I would like to see this well tested theory be repeated one more time, so I could better understand how from nothing can be made into something...How can one test the origin of the universe?...How can one recreate Creation?...A loud Big Bang turned nothing into something...I actually do not believe this theory can be accurately tested or repeated...All the variables (involved in this theory, and what happened at the beginning of time) make it very, very difficult to repeat the steps of creation...Is the chemistry of the universe, different now than it was, billions of years ago?...But I do believe we might have had a Big Bang when the heavens and earth were created...I believe sometime in the beginning when God spoke and said "Let there be light.", and around the time He separated the light from the darkness, and when He made the first morning, the world and universe would have been full of excitement, and goodness and maybe noise and noises were happening...The loudest noise could have happened when God gave us this first light and the world heard His words, saying "Let there be light."...I wonder, too, how loud was God's Word that day He spoke Creation into being...But in the beginning, it is probably that it was exponentially louder than any lightning storm and thunder one has ever heard or can even imagine...(Now I cannot repeat this belief or test it, but I believe there were probably some very loud things going on in that very first minutes and hours of the first day)...So, I believe in God and that when He spoke that first day -and said "Let there be Light", something loud could have happened...It may have been so loud, very loud -that some might call it a Big Bang or the Big Bang...And then, as we read Genesis, God set out to divinely design the heavens and the earth...He organized the heavens and finely tuned earth for man and woman to live...He is the Divine Designer and Grand Designer...I also believe all this noise and loudness on the first day was created by the Big Banger Himself, who is My LORD and Savior...
