Visionary Educator

A pioneering educator and leader who was committed to teacher leadership and professional development.

Began her career in Falls Church City Public Schools teaching social studies, then served as middle and high school principal, and finally as Assistant to the Superintendent, K- 12 Director of Instruction, and Clerk of the School Board.

Ended her career as Chief Academic Officer for Fairfax County Public Schools.

Helped to bring the International Baccalaureate program to Falls Church and oversaw its implementation.

Served as a university professor (UVA, GMU, UMD, and FSU) and as the long-time chair of the education committee at Dulin United Methodist Church.

The Falls Church Education Foundation maintains the Sprague Teacher Leadership Fund in her memory.
