Engaged Community Volunteer
Worked for many years as a math teacher, guidance counselor, and director of guidance in Fairfax, Virginia.
Longtime member of Citizens for a Better City, serving as president from 1983 to 1984.
Received CBC’s Jane and Wayne Dexter Award for exemplary service to CBC and the greater community in 2008.
Served on the Library Board of Trustees for eight years.
Longtime member of the League of Women Voters, serving as president for two years and another two as co-president.
Active member of The Falls Church Episcopal, where she served on the vestry for many years.
With her family and through her church, she recently sponsored and supported a Kurdish refugee family for three years, helping the family find housing, schooling, and support services.
Volunteered for a number of organizations in Falls Church and surrounding communities, including Kiwanis Club of South Arlington, Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs, Inc., the Falls Church Democratic Committee, the Arlington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee, and the Falls Church Education Foundation.
Maintained community involvement even after moving to the nearby Goodwin House, serving on the Resident Council, delivering clothing to Goodwill, wheeling residents to activities, and helping with activities including the Holiday Bazaar, Make a Difference Day, the Angel Tree, and the Green Team.
