Falls Church City Business Owner

One of Falls Church City’s longest-tenured business owners and a longtime member of the City’s Chamber of Commerce, Doris is the owner of Tower Square Shopping Center and WFAX 1220 AM, both located at 155 Hillwood Avenue directly across Fairfax Street from the landmark Falls Church.

Doris’s parents started a radio station in 1948 and moved WFAX 1220 to its current location in 1956. The family eventually purchased the whole shopping center. Doris remembers playing in the construction rubble as a young child, and she has been involved in the business for the past 30 years. The recent opening of the Aldi store and renovation of the shopping center adds to the liveliness of the neighborhood. WFAX is one of the only independently-operated Christian Talk Radio stations in the region.
