Won the 1984 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, as part of the 5th grade team.

Served on the Falls Church City Council (20002008) with two years as vice-mayor.

Member of the Falls Church City Planning Commission (20082019).

As a member of the Citizens for a Better City, helped establish and lead the “Youth Representatives to City Boards and Commissions” initiative.
