Jane Dexter

Member and Chair of the Falls Church City School Board (1954–1966).

Fought against proposed cutbacks in the new school division, resisting efforts by other board members to dismiss principals, teachers, nurses, and school psychologists in an attempt to save money.

Served as first president of the Falls Church League of Women Voters; board member and vice president of Citizens for a Better City; and board member of the Falls Church Housing Corporation.

Namesake for the Jane & Wayne Dexter Award, which is the Citizens for a Better City’s highest honor presented to a CBC member for exceptional service.
