Community Activist & Leader

Appointed to the Falls Church City School Board in 1976 and served six years as a member, 1976–1982, and as chairman, 1979–1981.

Twice elected to the Falls Church City Council, serving from 1982 to 1984 and 1986 to 1990. During her tenure, she represented the city on the Metropolitan Council of Governments and served as secretary of the Council from 1977 to 1980

Member of the Falls Church League of Women Voters for 24 years, serving as president from 1971 to 1972; 24-year member of the State of Virginia League of Women Voters, where she also served as state treasurer.

Founding board member of the Montessori School of Northern Virginia, 1966.

Served on the St. James Catholic Church Liturgy Committee and Married Couples Group, 1966–1990.

Longtime member of Citizens for a Better City and the Falls Church Democratic Committee, 1970–1990.
