Immigrant Leader

Came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 1975.

Established the Vietnamese American Voters Association and registered 2,000 voters in 2000, and 4,000 voters in 2004.

Received a Washingtonian of the Year Award from Washingtonian Magazine in 2003 for her successful voter registration drive.

Awarded the 2007 Gold Medal of Liberty by Ms. Senior America for her advocacy work on behalf of victims of sex and labor trafficking.

Awarded the Gold Peace Statue in 2013 by the Vietnamese Writers Foundation for her lifetime achievements as a social activist, empowering citizens to vote, and as an advocate defending the rights of women and children.
