Day 78

Being the Poem

Day 78 Tuesday 3rd July 2018

Being the Poem

© 2018 Steve Cook

I racked my brains for something to write,

The search for a verse ran into the night

And it kind of felt like I was wasting my time,

Nothing sparked, nothing flowed, nothing rhymed.

Then just when I felt like I really should quit

Life's duties intruded and I had to babysit,

Get my head out of poetry and spend a few hours

In the company of kids and bask in the power

Of their love and laughter and joy of living

And so I discovered each child is poem.

And all I aspired to they manage to be

A universe each one of pure poetry!
