The Demise of Governments

Governments begin to die,

Entering decay's long grim

Dwindling spiral

The day they reverse polarity

And become a magnet for criminals.

And the seed of their demise

Is sown the moment they begin

To lie to their people.

Thus, many by that token are still-born

While others are short-lived and feeble.

A government of honest men it seems

Would be well nigh immortal.
