The Power of Help

The best tonic there is for your mental health

Is the power inherent in your purpose to help.

Show me a being who's struggling and I'll show you a man

Who's simply stopped helping or doesn't think he can.

In come the psychs with their drugs and their babble

'Cos everyone's forgotten the source of the trouble.

So show 'em they can help, even a little

And you'll see them restored to much finer fettle

And the sad, the lost, half-mad or demented

Turn back to the light when their help's not prevented.

You'll see our world surge in its peace and its worth

When everyone's first question is, "How can I help?"
