Day 63

The Machine's in Overdrive

Day 63 of the Poetry for Peace Poemathon. Monday 18th June 2018.

I have set myself the task of writing a brand new poem every day for a year. So that's 63 days/poems done and I only have to come up with another 302 poems by April 2019! Piece of cake - nothing can possibly go wrong with that!

Slightly hysterical overconfidence aside, I invite other poets and lyricists to join me. Not necessarily to write a new poem every day, which - believe me - is really really hard and not every poet is up to it (see what I did there?). It can be a on-off, one now and then or a few for, say, a week. Doesn't matter. I am keeping this invitation open as I need the company so come and have a go if you think you're hard enough (poetically speaking). Just send me your poem(s) and I'll publish them along with mine.

Meanwhile, here's today's effort.

The machine's in overdrive manufacturing threat,

In a desperate ploy to overwhelm and keep everyone upset,

To fracture and divide the resurgent Human Nation,

Lest peace breaks out and we usher in an Age of Cooperation.

Keep brother fighting brother and kin fighting kin,

With war forever simmering and the planet in a spin.

Create universal scarcity and enslave the race with debt,

Constrained by economics, by uncertainty beset.

The strategy of the Overlords for the past ten thousand years

Has been divide and conquer using propagandised fears.

But the Human Nation's changing and the game's begun to fail.

The dinosaur is dying, but beware its thrashing tail!
