Day 147

When the Poetry Dies

Day 147. Monday 10th September 2018

When the Poetry Dies

© 2018 Steve Cook

When the poetry dies inside you, you're dead

Like a bird in a cage where the cage is your head.

The creation of song, of rhyme or a game

Are the reasons for living again and again.

But remember when the flesh returns to the earth

That death is a prelude to life in rebirth.

And the poem never dies, it just alters form;

When one verse expires, new verses are born.
