The Power of Laughter

Praise be for the power of laughter,

For tyranny stands helpless

In the face of it

And nothing dissolves your shackles

Like a quiet chuckle

At their ridiculousness.

The wry aside, quip or irony

Are the best therapy

For the trap of seriousness,

For the truth of it

Is the only thing wrong with us

Or the world we're living in,

Is we've gotten too serious.

We have to rediscover

The ability to laugh at it

Occasionally.

So laugh, damn you!

Laugh!

Or else!
