On June 22, 1986, Stanley Howard was sleeping in his home with his wife and daughter when an intruder took a knife from his kitchen, walked into his bedroom, and stabbed him in the throat.

The Howard family lived in Merced, CA at 631 East Gerard Avenue. Stanley Howard chased the intruder down his hallway but was unable to catch him. Stanley Howard died while chasing the intruder. His daughter, who woke up during the murder has written a book called The Lost Night: A Daughter’s Search for the Truth of Her Father’s Murder.
