On August 18, 1984, 58 year old Francis De Alvis was found in his apartment. He lived in an apartment at 843 Hawthorne Street in Monterey, CA. He had been stabbed many times and his apartment was ransacked. Investigators believe at least one item was taken from the apartment and that DeAlvis more than likely knew his murderer.

Francis DeAlvis was born in Rangoon, Burma. He was a 6th grade teacher at Echo Valley Elementary School in Prunedale, CA for 16 years. He had a bachelors degree and a masters from Monterey Institute of International Studies. He also taught in the Burmese Department at the Defense Language Institute.
