On Saturday, March 28, 2009, 71 year old Jerry Lee Greer was found murdered in his home on  Santa Rita Road in Templeton, CA. According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Detectives he was murdered with a gun shot wound. There was nothing unusual or out of place at his home and did not appear that robbery was a motive for the crime. The last time he was known to be alive was when he talked with a family member on the phone the night before at 6 p.m. and then with another friend at 8 p.m. 

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Cold Case Investigators haven't released very much information about this crime but in 2018 they did designate Brian Greer, the son of Jerry Greer as a person of interest in this homicide. Brian Greer strongly maintains his innocence, has not been arrested nor has evidence been given to the public or put forth by SLO County Sheriff's proving why he is a person of interest.

Jerry Greer was known as a man who always kept his word and had a dedicated schedule. He graduated from Templeton High School in 1957 and worked as a mechanic in Paso Robles and for San Luis Obispo County. He was a fixture in the Templeton community and loved woodcutting and hunting.
