Ambient

Xinyi Xu

The title of this work is ‘Ambient’ as it focuses on how outside sources can have defining effects of our internal being. It looks at the growth and development of our self-identity from the effects of the surrounding environment. It studies the inevitable disasters that we all naturally experience, and how these not only allow for others to help us heal, it lets us rebuild and bring new life into what was once broken.

Fossil

We all go through the process of losing ourselves, but we are still whole. We must ask ourselves: how can we rediscover ourselves from the broken past? How do we redefine our current identity based on our past experiences? How can we create from what is now fragmented? We need to remember that the pieces still can make up a whole, brought together to create something new and better.

Jury

People will always judge you, and those people might be someone you know or strangers. Their judgement of you stands as a representation of themselves rather than defining you. Sometimes we listen, but sometimes we need to say ‘no’ and not listen to something that we shouldn’t have to listen to.

Factor

Friends are not only a part of our lives, but they also have defining effects on who we are. They make up what we are now, and at key moments in our lives, can have a large impact on who we become. They will be quite and listen to you and the healers in your heart when you need them to be.

Prism

We all have things that bring color to our lives. These things can be friends, family, hobbies, or anyone or anything we love. These things bring us happiness when we are down - light when it is dark - color when it is dull - healing when we are hurt – the rainbow after the rain.
