Bad Dreams

This is a domestic, maternal experience that includes my daughter’s nightmares, along with a view of the trauma I have from my own mother who is a narcissist. This show is meant to be an intergenerational look at grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, and is about breaking abuse cycles through honesty and promoting healthy relationships through cherishing my daughter and her story telling.

I like to use sustainable items in my work, I have only worked on free items that were being thrown away or cardboard. The work features my daughter and Bad Gok, the creature from her bad dreams that she fears. Bad Gok eats kittens and Zoe is able to defeat Bad Gok through feeding him carrots and blowing bubbles at him. We blow bubbles in our front yard with our daughter very often and this is the story she tells as we play.
