Extended Blind Contour
watercolor, ink
12" 8 1/2"
The main idea behind the blind contour is to pay more attention to the object you are drawing rather than what your drawing of it looks like. The extended part of this assignment was make the blind contour into something.
The work was made by looking at several objects and trying to draw them not looking at your paper and trying not to pick up our pens. The assignment required us to use pens to get those defined lines. After I sketched my faces I just went wild with my watercolor.
I wanted to do something intense and sad to me it doesn't feel scary in a traditional way I feel like it represents that feeling of being stuck in a place of helplessness, despair or loss. I sort of just started to draw faces where I saw them in my blind contour. I am usually not content with my work and I still am not on this piece but its just they way it is with me and my art.
