Autumn rest
canvas, acrylic
9"14"
I wanted to use this autumnal Bob Ross landscape to depict my feelings surrounding the season we are no heading into. Autumn for me is about gathering strength for the long stretch of winter ahead.
After completing my Bob Ross painting I decided to embrace the landscape. Although the assignment allowed me to completely reconstruct my painting I decided to embrace the work that had been put into my "Rossie". I went over the landscape and added details and contrast, fluffing the bed for my person. I emphasized the lights and darks carefully, lengthening my paint with paint thinner. I did look up a few references, and eventually etched in the lines of my lady. I wanted to immerse her in the landscape as to my best ability, making her seem one with the land and the mountains. This part for me depicts the connectedness and primal instincts awakened in fall, I personally find myself oscillating between alertness and need for sleep, ensuring I have the ability to power through the colder months.
