Decaying BouquetÂ
watercolor, pen, paper with in splotch

When I saw the ink on this piece of paper I immediatley saw a bouquet of flowers. I wanted to protrey something peaceful, bright and happy like this time of year. I went in with pen to add deconstructed elements as to give it a sort of animated feel.
I started with outlining my sketch in colored pencil and then I started watercolor layers. Later on I went in with a fine tip pen to define and add finishing touches.
I made a variation of watercolor outlined with pen, just pen, or just watercolor. I wanted it to be loose and natural. I find pen freeing since there is no erasing you have to embrace the path your hand takes you on. And the watercolor adds an organicness to the piece which contrasts with the harsher lines of pen.
