Beautiful Oops

Choosing my ink splotch I saw this paper and  immediately saw the beginnings of a dress coming into view.  I continually admire old fairytale illustrations and stories behind them. This has led me to read a story from Grimms fairy tales each night before I turn my light off.

I began with a light sketch that grew along with my ideas.  Initially I intended to us watercolor, but as my sketch progressed  my vision switched to an ink drawing. My goal was to add contrast, interest and  dimension with my background. 

I wanted my style to have a playful essence as well as being a bit abstract. This led to a lot of line work, and scribbling.
