Cozy Home

Much of my art is inspired fro my childhood attending a waldorf school. The art and activities are simple, yet aid learning composition, creativity and color. I tried to embody these principles in this artwork. A cozy little house has been a common subject in my art studies since the first grade so I began planning surrounding my idea.
I cut pieces of fabrics I fancied and layed out a general idea of my work on an old napkin. In my sewing work I strive to reuse and recycle materials, much of my fabric at home comes from leftover scraps, and ripped clothes. These I incorporated with the fabric samples I was given. I sewed my fabric pieces into place, using different kinds of embroidery stitches. After the sewing portion was finished I wanted to add interest so I added some wool felt for clouds.
All the different textures come togther to create a cozy feel along with the "cute" image.
