 I like the colors on the spectacled eider.I wanted to show the message of preserving bird wildlife by having the bird be alone because it is an endangered species. I also wanted to draw a bird that not a lot of other contestants would draw.

I used colored pencil on pastel paper, I find using toned paper make highlights stand out and gives more contrast. I wanted to make a dreamy soft not a super detailed but colorful background.

I started with drawing the duck lightly and then went in with the sky and background before finishing the rest.
