Dollhouse

watercolor, pen, gold leaf, gel pen.

9" 12"

I wanted to make a dollhouse map of the house I live in and have grown up in.  I made it include my path in gold. I wanted this piece to feel whimsical and magical. Bright colors and fun details give this piece an alluring, playfulness.

I started out with sketching in pencil and then moved to making the initial outline in pen. I went in with layer by layer of watercolor and a bit of white gouache.  I then gold leafed my trail through my house.

The process was steady and I had fun. The gold leaf was a last minute decision because the metallic paint I first used to make my path wasn't as bold as I wanted .
