Multimedia Cart Digital Tools Instructions
The multimedia cart includes Camtasia, screen recorder and video editing software. Additionally, there is an external and document camera, and microphones.
When creating any video or audio follow these steps:
Create - using your choice of equipment and software [i.e. ScreencastOmatic or Camtasia to create multimedia]
Save
Desktop is preferable
YouTube- linked to your STCC email account- this gives you control to store and share your work
ScreencastOmatic - least recommended, as then ScreencastOmatic has control of your work
Store in your YouTube account, be sure you are in your STCC email account

Instructional Advice
Camtasia has the ability to integrate an existing PowerPoint so audio can be inserted over the visual presentation.
Keep the final project at a 15 minute time limit.

Create a Powerpoint Using Camtasia
If you have a very long PowerPoint presentation, determine how you will chunk the slides into 15 minute videos and make those logical ‘breaks in your presentation, for the video[s] creation.’
Prepare your transcript-you will want to know what you are going to be narrating, when you begin.

Instructional Advice
Document cameras work like a digital overhead projector. These cameras capture real-time images for displaying an object to a large audience. Using the document camera here, will record what you have under the camera.
Create a Video Using the Document Camera
How to Get Started
Turn on the Document Camera
Open Camtasia
Select New Project
Click Record Button
Choose Camera
Click on IPEVO-VZR
Check these instructions for detailed notes
Turn Audio Off- later audio will be recorded in Camtasia
Click Tools from drop down
Choose Camtasia
Click Record - Currently the preview is very small. CODL is working on this. Run a quick test to be sure what you are recording is in the proper space.
Recording falls into Camtasia
Resize in the Preview
Delete any additional tracks -keep only the resized track
Add Audio
Choose
Voice Narration
Click start recording, speak into mic
Click Stop when finished > save on desktop > name file
In Audio track make edits as needed - usually this is for length
When satisfied with the video
Share the final video from Camtasia
Select Share > Local File.
In the File Format dropdown, select Export to MP4(.mp4).
Click Options.
In the Frame Rate dropdown, set rate to Automatic.
In the Dimensions dropdown, set dimensions to Current.
Select OK and Export.
Click Finish
The final video will save to wherever you indicated-usually the desktop
