Find 10 items around your house that make different types of sounds (high, low, short, long, soft, loud)
Using a tea towel, make a blindfold to put on a family member (or they can just cover their eyes!)
Play each sound and get them to guess what the item is
For each correct answer, they score 1 point.
They can then find 10 items to test you with! The highest score wins.
Get an empty water bottle, can or container and fill with rice. Make sure to decorate and enjoy your new shaker.
Write down 10 things you can find in your house or backyard that makes a LOUD sound
In a group, one person closes their eyes while someone else has to put on a funny voice and say "Silly Sausage!". Whoever had their eyes closed has to guess who said it. Use a different voice every time.
Click on each classical music composer and listen to the different types of classical music
Which composer's music did you enjoy most?

Below are two videos for members of the SPA Choir to practice singing along to. The first video is a singing lesson, which can be used to warm up your voice before singing a song of your choice at home. The second video on the right is to the song "Yonder" which we started learning in the choir before the holidays. This song is a round and has three parts. You can practice singing each part with me and starting at different times. The lyrics for Yonder are below the video clips. Enjoy!
Part 1: Yonder come day, day is a breaking
Yonder come day, oh my soul
Yonder come day, day is a breaking
Sun is a rising in my soul
Part 2: Yonder, Yonder, Yonder, Yonder
Yonder, Yonder, Sun is a rising in my soul
Part 3: Trees are green and air is sweet,
The good earth is singing underneath my feet,
I'll point my feet down that freedom line,
Walking that road I'm feeling fine, yeah!
Teach your family the eight hand signs
You can also teach them the song "Do at your belly button"
Do at your belly button, Re like a mountain
Mi is flat, Fa with your thumbs down
So like a gate, La like a monster
Ti points up to Do! Do! Do!
The Kodaly hand signs help us to sing from low to high with the correct pitch.
We can also play these notes on the piano or keyboard too. If you have a piano or keyboard at home, have a go playing the Kodaly hand signs using notes C D E F G A B C.
If you don't have a piano/keyboard at home, you can sing the letters as you practice making the hand signs.
